    Role Requirements

    The Programme Management Office, Senior Manager, is a new role responsible for establishing and embedding the Programme Management Office (PMO) function within IXICO. The PMO will support all commercial, collaborative and internal projects, and will establish the key governance relationships across all business functions ensuring consistency in project methodology, consolidated resource planning and successful project and programme delivery.

    The PMO Senior Manager will be responsible for establishing and delivering all the necessary project and programme reporting, governance and support functions. This includes assisting Functional Leads and Project Managers in the startup, day to day running and monitoring, and closure of their project portfolios and programmes - ensuring all aspects of projects are clearly defined. The PMO, Senior Manager manages key milestones to define what, when and how activities will be organised to ensure the outcomes of a project can be achieved, to budget. They lead on all aspects of project planning, which will include the development, resource planning, updating and monitoring of plans and schedules. They help identify tasks, activities, interdependencies and outputs for projects and work with project managers to track and monitor progress against the plan throughout the life of new and existing projects.

    Key responsibilities

    • Delivery of all projects to budget, which includes ensuring variances are addressed by suitable corrective actions plans
    • Establish and promote the PMO functions, in particular project planning, control and governance
    • Our planning process, including the creation of project plans, consolidation of activities, forecast workforce resources and dependencies across business functions
    • Implement, champion and embed new systems to support project planning and delivery (Microsoft Project)
    • Develop and maintain project management methodology including standard operating procedures, documentation templates, reporting and planning information
    • Produce and maintain work breakdown structures
    • Provide oversight of all projects being managed across IXICO, including reports to the Leadership Team on current projects and proposed future projects
    • Report project and programme progress and status using a consistent format including; risks and issues, scope and milestone management, schedule summary, resource plans, critical success factors and KPIs
    • Reporting to Leadership Team on resource requirement vs. availability
    • Work closely with Functional Leads and Project Managers as part of IXICO’s planning process which will include the full project lifecycle
    • Engage effectively across the business to promote best practice project delivery methodology
    • Develop ideas and plans to improve project delivery
    • Support and coach colleagues in all aspects of project and programme management including training as required
    • Deputise for the PMO VP as required


    • Degree level, ideally within a technology or business discipline
    • Minimum desired 7 years of Project Management experience with multiple projects of varying complexities across all project life-cycle phases
    • Excellent understanding and capability in using Microsoft Excel, including macros to consolidate multiple projects and plans
    • Demonstrable experience of establishing and managing a PMO
    • Experience of implementation of a new project management/business systems is desirable
    • Accreditation in proven project management methodologies, Prince2, PMI or equivalent
    • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office software applications and expert user of Microsoft project
    • Understanding of clinical research phases and processes involved in the planning and management of a clinical trial would be useful
    • Understanding/experience in Agile project management is desirable

    • Teaching / training experience would be an advantage
    • Willing to travel - up to 5% of the time
